World Monitor (“we”, “our”, “the service”) is the World Monitor iOS app and the website operated by Kerim Genç. This policy explains what data the service handles, why, and the choices you have. In short: there are no accounts, we never ask for your name or email, and the limited data we do process is pseudonymous and used to run, improve and support the app.
The app includes software from the following providers, each of which receives the data described above as needed for its function and processes it under its own policy:
Map, news, incident and flight data are served by a third-party data backend (worldmonitor.news / world-monitor.net), which receives standard request metadata such as your IP address and app version, subject to its own privacy policy.
With your permission, the advertising identifier is shared with AppsFlyer so we can learn which campaigns bring people to World Monitor. If you decline, no advertising identifier is used and every feature of the app works exactly the same. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We do not show advertising in the app and we do not sell or share personal data for targeted advertising.
The incidents feature shows public-safety dispatch radio that is broadcast publicly, captured and transcribed by a third-party incident data provider, together with AI-generated summaries. You do not submit any data to this feature. The audio may contain the voices of dispatchers and responders as publicly broadcast; we do not attempt to identify individuals and we do not process this content for any purpose other than displaying it.
Headline translation runs entirely on your device using Apple's Translation framework; nothing is sent to a translation server. Brief notifications are scheduled locally on your device; we do not run a push server and do not hold device push tokens.
We keep a small record per installation — the anonymous ID, language, time zone, country, subscription state, app version, device model and first/last seen dates — in our database to support subscriptions and understand usage. Analytics and crash data are retained by the providers above for the periods set in their policies (for example Firebase Analytics retains user-level data for 14 months by default). We delete our record of your installation on request.
Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Brazil and California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your data, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold no name or email, write to us from the device in question and we will help you identify and delete your record. We do not sell personal data and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined by California law. Our legal bases are our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, and your consent for tracking.
World Monitor is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
All traffic between the app and our services uses TLS. We store no passwords or payment data.
We may update this policy; the date above changes when we do. Material changes will be noted in the app or on this page.
